And a recent analysis reported in JAMA Psychiatry found that the effectiveness of SSRIs in treating anxiety has been overestimated, and in some cases is no better than placebo.’”

“According to the FDA, ‘benzodiazepines can worsen cases of pre-existing depression, and more recent studies suggest that they may potentially lead to treatment-resistant depression. Furthermore, benzodiazepines can cause emotional blunting or numbness and increase suicidal thoughts and feelings.’”

There are various medications for the treatment of anxiety disorders. The traditional medication is drugs like benzodiazepines and new medications like SSRI antidepressants. These prescription drugs for anxiety only provide temporary satisfaction from anxiety.

Benzodiazepines may give relief for some time during anxiety. It also has common side effects like dizziness, trouble concentrating, memory problems, confusion, upset stomach, and blurred vision.

It has certain withdrawal symptoms as increased anxiety, insomnia, depression, pounding heart, and so on.

Other medications for anxiety are like Buspirone, beta-blockers. Not only can it be resolved by medications but also by regular exercise, worry busting strategies, therapy, yoga, and meditation.
